We would like to welcome you to the official website of "Team USA Polonia." We invite all fans, athletes, organizations and sponsors to contribute and help make this important and prestigious event possible for all to enjoy. Our goal is to sponsor our athletes who will then represent the USA Polonia at the Zakopane Winter Olympics. Despite the current economic recession that has affected all of us, we still believe that we can unite our efforts and make this event an unforgettable and highly successful occasion where we will be represented by the best Polonia has to offer.

 

We have created this website to organize and facilitate contact of Polonia athletes from all over the United States who are interested and willing to participate in the VIII World Polonia Winter Olympics 2010.

A Short History of the Polonia Olympics

The Polonia Winter Olympics is a sporting event that was created in interwar times. The first Olympics took place in Warsaw, in the year 1934. In the times of the People's Republic of Poland (PRL), the games were banned. Later on, in the 1990s, Andrzej Stelmachowski, a member of the senate, would reactivate these games once more. Currently, the Olympics take place every two years in various cities across Poland. In these events, polish athletes from around the world, participate in the Olympics. This helps integrate various polish communities, especially young adults, and strengthen their ties with Poland. Around a thousand people attend these Olympics, hailing from numerous countries in Europe. There are a total of twenty-one sporting events that are represented in the Olympics. From the year 1997, the main multimedia sponsor and co-organizer of the Olympics is TV Polonia, and from the year 2000, "Wspólnota Polska," has undertaken the decision and rights to help organize the Polonia World Olympics. The XIV World Polonia Summer Olympics took place on July of 2009, in Toruń. On the other hand, the V World Polonia Winter Olympics took place on March of 2008, in Szczyrk. Zakopane was the host of the Polonia Winter Olympics in the year 1986.
